More changes keep coming!

Steven Skoczen wrote this May 11, 2009 for SixLinks Developers . Updated 3 days later.
If anyone's watching (probably not too many of you, because we haven't really told anyone that the site's back up yet), there've been some improvements and tweaks recently:

  • "Tomo Says" footers at the bottom of many pages
  • The start of the SixLinks Store
  • Reformatted discussions, to be clearer, and more user-friendly.
  • Redone "Do your part" icon
  • Do your part page that actually works. Now, mind you, we don't have all the data in the DB that we need yet for things to show up and check off yet, but the code itself works.
  • Quick-post works.
  • Search works. Still.
  • The main page for your profile is now "updates". This will include your posts, quick-posts, actions, and various sundry things around the site that you do. Similar to your updates feed, but with actual details.
  • We're brainstorming internally what the sponsoring/featured SixLinks accounts should get. I'll post more on this shortly, but if anyone has requests, tag them on the comments!
  • The first version of the Icon pasture is up.
  • Oembed support. This means that simply pasting a youtube, flickr, etc URL into your post will turn it into a proper video, photo, etc. Pretty sweet. Por ejemplo: pasting http: // www.flickr.com/photos/aglzen/79448599/

  • Those are the updates for today!

So out of curiosity, what does the "do your part" code do?
Steven Skoczen May 14, 2009
Man, I've really got to get email updates working again.

The code itself (updated again today) pulls from the DB, parses to flashvars, and then embeds a set of vars that the swf file is looking for.

Today's "Your part" section will show you more.

It's actually feature-complete (with a few bugs, most certainly), but as Jeff and I make the guides and wire them up, and increasing number of the tasks will hit actual guides.

Next up, getting the new guides/actions interface done and online!
