Where we need to be
Everyone would like to be spending less money on utilities and unnecessary purchases. We need to continuing to find ways to save money while reducing energy consumption at the same time. There are many things to look forward to as far as money savings opportunities in the future.
Coal and natural gas both require constant inputs of raw materials that solar and wind do not
The advantage of
Making Clean Energy is that if you use a renewable energy source such as wind or solar, most of the costs are in creating initial infrastructure, not in operating it. Coal and natural gas both require constant inputs of raw materials that solar and wind do not. Similarly,
Electric Cars require only electricity to keep themselves going, as opposed to constantly needing to fill the tank with gasoline.
Using natural resources sustainably and increasing rates of recycling will save money on materials by requiring the harvesting of less basic components of our things. Consuming fewer things by reusing and repairing goods will also save money by not needing to replace things as often. Similarly, we can save money on our food budgets by consuming food that took less resources to create.
We need to get to the point where we are spending less money on our bills because we are using less energy and energy from more renewable sources. We will also need to be spending less on our stuff by consuming fewer natural resources, having less energy intensive stuff, and by reusing items that have longer lifespans. Finally, we will need to be consuming less energy intensive foods and saving the money from those energy savings.
