How we get there

The biggest thing that we can do to try to protect plants is to do more to Protect Natural Spaces. Protecting natural spaces, especially as managed resource spaces will ensure that we can not destroy entire areas full of plant life. It will also make it so that when we want to harvest resources from an area, we must do so in a way that doesn't take more than the plant life can replenish.

Avoiding deforestation is a major part of protecting spaces, and is probably the biggest thing we need to do to protect plants. Not only is deforestation a threat to the plants being destroyed directly, but it also contributes to Climate Change. And climate change is itself a major threat to plant life all over the world. Doing everything we can to avert climate change by stopping deforestation, Using Less Energy, Making Clean Energy, and reducing emissions from Transportation is going to be another huge part of how we protect plants.

Another important thing that each and every one of us can do is to work to ensure that proper plants for a region are planted. This means not introducing invasive species or species that require extra resources to maintain. For example, don't plant trees that need a lot of watering in arid climates.

Finally, we need to work to improve our understanding of the plant species we currently have and to make collections of this genetic variety. We can do this by supporting research into various botany projects that attempt to figure out what plants we currently have and what, if anything, is threatening them. We should also work to create as many stores of genetic diversity as possible through things such as seed banks. similar to what is currently being used to preserve wild varieties of food crops.
