Guide: Visit a local zoo, aquarium, or conservation center
It is important to learn about the wildlife around you and around the world and also to support those institutions that are looking to protect the flora, fauna, and spaces that are in danger.
Steps:
1 Pick a zoo, aquarium, conservation center, or nature center to visit
Ask friends and family for suggestions, or just search online. The AZA (aza.org) has a resource for finding nearby zoos and aquariums.
2 Pay Admission
These groups need your help to sustain their spaces and to protect other plants, animals, and spaces around the region or around world.
3 Learn everything you can
Read all the signs, fall in love with a plant or animal. Learn what this particular institution is doing to help the rest of the world. Figure out if they are involved in any cool programs with other institutions.
4 Consider Getting a Membership
A membership will often give you free admission to their institution as well as many others around the country. It'll also give you a number of other benefits, while allowing the institution to continue their mission of educating the public and protecting plants, animals, and spaces around the region or globally.
