Agreed, we just have to take the time to do this correctly.
For random guides that have never been used, no big problem (besides the updates feeds). But if someone has started using the guide, there's an issue.
We'll be clarifying and revising the draft/published flow soon, and this should make things more clear. In essence, nobody can use a draft guide, and once it's published, it can't be deleted (because someone is possibly using it).
For your "Wheeee" guide, I can make it a draft if you'd like. This will allow you to delete it when the new guide code goes in.
