Rachel's action: Donate to a clean water project

Getting clean water to the billions in the world without it is important to ensure that they are capable of having healthy, sustainable lives. You can't ask someone to be more careful about their environmental footprint when their basic needs aren't met.

You can do some research on your own, check out the How We Get There section of the Basic Needs Overview page, or ask for suggestions in our discussion forum.

The group I selected is Global Water (www.globalwater.org). More about them in my upcoming blog post, but you should check out their site - the organization, founded in 1978 by former U.S. Ambassador John McDonald and Dr. Peter Bourne, works to get clean water to people around the world by identifying projects headed by NGO's and donating money, equipment and technical expertise to install and inspect a water system.
