Marcus's action: Have a smart-grid based utility

Smart grids improve overall energy efficiency, provide more information to you, the consumer, and allow for better accommodation of clean energy technologies. There is also a lot of government money for these projects, so there is no reason for your utility to not be taking advantage of it.
Step 1: Check to see if your utility uses smart grid technology read more
If it does, check off everything, you're done! If not, proceed to step 2 (It's like a choose your own adventure). If you're not sure, ask them.

Step 2: Find out if your utility is planning a smart grid read more
If they are, keep on them and make sure they don't back down from this commitment. Once it's implemented, you can check off the last box. If there are no plans in the works, time to proceed to step three.

Step 3: Call your utility and find out why there are no plans in the works read more
There is a lot of money out there for this now. There is no excuse for your utility to be dragging their feet with this.

Step 4: Get neightbors involved read more
Get neighbors calling, write an editorial, get a petition going. Do whatever you need to to convince your utility company to get going on this.
